About me
Internationally qualified yoga therapist in Willunga South
Hello, I’m Mischa.
I meet you where you are, in all your glorious imperfection. I approach my work from a place of deep compassion and genuinely care for all of my students, many of whom have been coming to me for years.
I am a senior yoga teacher and internationally accredited yoga therapist. I bring decades of experience and knowledge to my small group yoga classes as well as my work with individual yoga therapy students. My background and extensive training in yoga philosophy and practice, as well as Gestalt psychotherapy and massage, supports me to work holistically with each client. My yoga training is in the Krishnamacharya lineage, which is unique in its emphasis on adapting classical yoga techniques to teach what is appropriate to the individual.
I grew up in an ashram and began my personal yoga journey in Adelaide almost 40 years ago before eventually settling in Sydney. I have recently moved back to live on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia.
Throughout my life I have travelled extensively, continuing to explore the different ways that yoga and somatic practices and psychotherapy interconnect to holistically support the individual.
I am particularly interested in the mind-body connection as it relates to healing, with experience in various somatic practices including Body-Mind Centering® and trauma-aware yoga.
In 2022 through the Yoga Foundation, I met trauma aware yoga teacher, and First Nations elder, Aunty Jacqui Jarrett, and together we co-created a unique 'Yoga Walks on Country' experience, utilising mindfulness & yogic practices, interwoven with traditional First Nations cultural wisdom.
Since 2020, I have undertaken further study in supporting individuals through the very human experience of grief, with Dr Greg Roberts.
In 2024, I completed certification with Dr Lauren Tober as a Mental Health Aware Yoga teacher.
“Mischa is a true professional. She blends impressive and constantly developing technical expertise with acute observation of your physical and mental state to produce an individualised practice that feels holistic and brings a wonderful sense of personal awareness and satisfaction. Mischa has assisted me greatly in improving mind and body strength, balance and, very crucially, understanding. She is a very caring, dedicated teacher.”
